<< Back to How to become an Au Pair

  • 1. Please read through the Requirements to be an Au Pair in Spain and choose from Our Programs before completing the pre-application form .
  • 2. Fill out the On Line pre-application form . Please note that this pre-application is non binding. It allows us to assess how well you fulfil the requirements. Once we have reviewed your pre-application, we will get in touch with you to discuss all further steps to get you started .
  • 3. The au pair “Application pack” will be complete once you collect the following items:
    • DOCUMENTS AND CERTIFICATES REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR THE “AU PAIR IN SPAIN” PROGRAM:

    • Application form neatly filled out
    • 1 passport size photo to send by e-mail (smiling!)
    • collage of pictures of you, with your family, friends…
    • A Dear Host Family Letter in Spanish (could be in English if you do not speak Spanish or you do not fill confident), stating who you are, why you want to come to Spain and what you expect from being an au pair in Spain, your hobbies, interests, experience with children, any other special considerations (such as diet, etc.). Give as much detail as you can so that the host family reading your letter gets a sense of your personality and the kind of person you are. Do not get help with the letter so the family does not think you know more Spanish than you do. Use no less than 600 words and no more than 2 pages of white A4 paper.
    • 2 reference letters including name, telephone and address of writer. One reference letter should be a childcare reference and the other a character reference (from non-family members if possible). Must be written in Spanish or English.
    • Au Pair agreement signed.
    • Medical report established less than 3 months before placement, declaring your general state of health. Name and address of the doctor. A letter from your family doctor on his letterhead is accepted. It must state you are in good mental and physical health such that you can take care of children and travel to Spain.
    • Police Report that states you do not have criminal record. Go to your local police department and tell them you need a document saying you do not have criminal record for “travelling” purposes.
    • Photocopies of  any degrees or other qualifications such as first aid, child care courses, foreign languages, sports…
    • Photocopy of your ID card or passport
    • Photocopy of your European Health Insurance card. If you are an European citizen you can ask for an EHIC, more information about how to get this card in this link. If you do not have EHIC, you need to arrange a private insurance that provides you with medical coverage in Spain. You need to send certificate from your insurance company stating you have medical coverage in Spain during your stay.
    • Photocopy of international driving licence if required by the family. It is not mandatory, many families do not require drivers.
  • 4. Please scan documents and send them by email. You can also send them by fax or snail mail.
  • 5. Your application will be circulated among Host Families available and we will tell you if there is any interested in you.
  • 6. We will inform you about families interested in you and we will arrange a Skype interview with the family selected by you.
  • 7. Once you have been accepted by a Host Family you like, you will sign agreement between Host Family and Au Pair. You will need to pay our fees and send to the family and to the agency copy of the voucher of the plane ticket with departure and arrival dates to Spain.
  • View families registered.
